Organic and Synthetic Artists

Organic and Synthetic Artists

Paolo Nutini

Paolo Giovanni Nutini is a Scottish singer, songwriter and musician from Paisley. Nutini made his first demo which saw him signed to Atlantic Records in May 2005, just after his 18th birthday. He released his first single "These Streets" as a free download in May 2006. This shows that he wanted his music to be none and hurt and was not concerned about the money. This was then followed by his next single "Last Request" which was released on 4 July 2006 and came 5th in the official UK charts. Paolo plays guitar bass, and sings as  a solo artist.

In these videos we see Paolo plaing instraments ,singing live and intracting with the audiance using his music.
This makes him diffrent to such artists as katie Perry who is seen
as a synthetic artist as she is molded by her record label she has
no say in what happens , she is there to look good and no deeper
orginality .
it is all these posative and original points that make Paolo
Nutini an organic artist.

Amy Lee

Amy Lee is an American singer-songwriter and classically trained pianist. She is co-founder and lead vocalist of the alternative rock band Evanescence. Amy Lee also writes and composes the band’s music , as well as her playing guitar, piano  , drums , violin and the harp.

In these videos we see Amy lee playing intrament, singing live and porforming original songs. This makes her diffrent to such artists as Cher Loyd who is seen
as a synthetic artist as she was molded by her record label she has no say in what happens , she is there to look good and has no deeper orginality .it is all these posative and original points that make Amy Lee

an organic artist.

Tulisa

Tulisa is a solo artist formerly She is best known for being a member of the now defunct Camden-based hip hop group N-Dubz, with her cousin Dappy and their friend Fazer. N-Dubz formed in 2000 and released three studio albums before announcing their indefinite hiatus in 2011. When the band split took up as a solo artist and was signed by another lable she was given a new image and a new genre of music. Tulisa solo career has been completly synthetic from her image to her style ans genre of music.

In this video we see her dancing and partying around with friends in minimual clothing this ditracts the audiance away from music and focuses on her image which is typical of a synthetic artist. we can clearly see that her voice has been pre recorded and sounds auto tunned to sound better, we dont see her palying any or her own instrament or singing a song with deeper meaning, which is more comon in organic artists such as Paolo Nutini. We sww that she focuses on the pass and party style to her music and not the meanung or her lyrics. All these point come together to Lable Tulisa as a synthetic artist due to her being so mainstreem and un original.

Task 7How has my skills developed from my prelim to my thriller

How has my skills developed from my prelim to my thriller

Camera work

When did the prelim I had no real knowledge of camera work of edit or mise~en~scene or what sound meant in filming so I was all very new to this. When doing the prelims I didn't really all these aspects in to account as didn't understand them properly. However I knew from I previous lessons about long shots , mid shot and close up so did Those shots but we didn't really take much els in to account apart from the focus and the white balance and just the simplistic stuff. After having all this time to improve and learn new things before making me thriller really help improve my skills in media. Such as camera work instead of using the 3 most basic shot in our prelim , in our thriller we experiment with a lot different shots and angles for example we used tracking shots , over the shoulder shoot , hand held. I think we really experimented with our rage a shoots a lot more with our thriller which really gave us so much more to work with when it came down to edit.

Editing

Editing for our thriller was a lot more complicated then just cutting and pasting shots together like in our prelim. A lot of our editing was after effects which again had never done  before but after having learnt over time in the editing sweet. As our thriller was a much faster moving pass so there were a lot more cuts and also with our thriller there was a lot to be concerned about on a continuity level. in our prelim we only had to worry about the gun and what side of the room the actors where standing with our thriller you had to worry about screens going dim what part of the blue print he was looking at. Lots of little had to be taken in to account or the thriller would not have been believable to the viewer. All in all the editing proses for our thriller was a lot more complex then our prelim , as our prelim was not as long as our thriller so didn't really require as much editing , however I am pleased with the contrast of the editing in my thriller and my prelim as I feel the editing in my prelim was week and minimal and i could do it over I would have done much more. However being able to see the difference between the two I am able to say that my editing has improved vastly over the last for months.

Mise-en-scene

when creating out prelim as they where just a lesson time task we didn't really have much time to plan so didn't have time to take in to account meis-en-scene as that was not really the focus of the task it was really more to work with camera and editing. However in our thrillers it was key. To make it believable to the audience. We knew we wanted him pyjamas to suggest it was night time but how ever due to him being. Autistic we knew they couldn't been an average teenage boy pyjamas and we wanted them to also link to the story so we found some child's 2 piece pyjamas in and adult size covered in aeroplanes. The was to link to his love of planes and 911 theme. In our thriller meis-en-scene was a key aspect even for the smallest thing where as in our prelim it was of minimal concern.

Sound
When looking at sound in our thriller and our prelim , there was more verbal communication in our prelim then our thriller. however there is non digetic music, where as in our prelim there was no non digetic sound at all. using non digetic sound is much easier then using digetic sound as when you filming with digetic you need to be really awere of sounds out when roling as well as how the speach is hurt and recorded. with non digetic sound it is useually put in after while editing saving the concern of sound when filming and is more accurate it to get exsactly what you want , so less can go wrong. also i think due to the fact its a thriller to have just non diegetic sounds it really adds and helps to build the tention, with out giving any thing away speach.
